I come from the farming world.  While farming in my younger days, I studied Plant Science at University of California Davis.  This led to work as a field sales consultant where I provided farming advise and taught growers how to use my products.

 

Also, I have an MBA from California State University, Sacramento.  My business studies and farming experience led to working in agricultural real estate lending and then commercial lending as a credit analyst, underwriter and loan officer.  Most of my work was helping borrowers choose the right lending path, collecting their documents, analyzing their credit and recommending approval.

 

What is interesting about both of these careers is their similarities, in that I spent my time explaining hard to understand concepts and procedures, giving advice, providing guidance and achieving real results for those who needed my products and services.  My work has always been about being involved with the customer to get them where they wanted to go rather than just taking orders. Providing residential mortgage loans has been a natural transition for me.  I provide all the same services as before.

What I have learned is that honest answers, working in the best interest of the borrower and a relentless drive to close their loan is most valuable to people.

Through my work, my customers are not done with me after the loan closes.  I receive calls to discuss current state of affairs and financial matters.  Also, I receive referrals from their friends and family.
